We’re not unlike each other to be honest. I took accounting my second year at Fayetteville State University in 1998, and up till this day, I have no clue how I got a B. Or was it an A?

However, in the last five years of my life, a series of circumstances, and my responses to those circumstances, brought me back into the world of accounting in full effect, and my intention this time, was to TRULY GET IT!

The first one was volunteering to write business plans for local businesses; a project I would’ve never gotten into had I known the difficulty it would’ve presented.

Having said that, once I was in, I was in.

And though the experience unearthed my previous misunderstandings of accounting, I was able to overcome them by talking to people who understood the field better than I, which included some locally-based mentors, Youtube gurus and paid courses from people who were committed to demystifying the subject.

The second was my disappointment with the way most of the business planning software on the market was structured, which culminated in me trying to build my own business planning software from scratch to address those issues.

As you can well imagine, the task of building software requires you to know your stuff…COLD!

It’s either right or left, up or down, 1s or 0s. There can be no in between, or else it cannot be programmed.

And it was that project that truly solidified what had already been a puzzle I had mostly solved.
